As Mick says, a jig and brass wire soldered. Or if it is plate stanchions and not round ones its a little more difficult but the same method. Cut your stanchions, if you use thing brass sheet you can cut with sharp scissors!, drill the holes for the brass wire, hold the plates in a block of wood that you have cut grooves in to hold them. Pass the wire through the holes and solder in place. You can do small sections at a time, or do one long section and then cut off what you need as you progress.
The holes in the stanchions are drilled using a jig so they are all spaced the same, but if using a round wire for these the drilling is not necessary. Buy your brass wire in coils from a jewellery outlet on ebay, its sold in 1mm and .4mm thicknesses, its a lot cheaper this way than buying short lengths from model shops, just make sure its brass and not brass plated wire!
