Kirklees Model Boat club will be holding its final open day on Sunday the 13 September at Wilton Park. If your passion is the grey funnel line please feel free to come along to see us. Although the theme is warships or military you are welcome to sail other types of models. We do not use I/C or high performance fast electrics more information to follow.

Just a week to go before our final major event for 2015. So if you have a grey funnel line model hope to see you next week. But if you do not have warship model you are still welcome to come along and sail with us.

Not many days to go now. Just done the raffle prize list for Sunday new dock sections are ready to go. I have been asked can you bring other types of models on Sunday the answer is yes but no IC or high performance fast electric sorry about this but  it is a council water. If you drive around the lake please could you put on your cars hazard flashers.

Hi,
Is there a height restriction on the car park entrance ? I transport my model in a coffin (wife's description)  on the roof of the car.
Also what time is best for  setting up ? I need my Gazebo, to keep the harsh Yorkshire sun at bay ?

Use the top car park entrance no height bar on this one. Set up time from around 9am space for your gazebo.

Early start on Sunday morning, tents to put up, paths to sweep and lots of other things to do before 9am. The weather was kind to us again making it three events out of three with perfect conditions and just a slight breeze blowing down the lake. Although the theme is warships other craft did attend during the day.  We had clubs from the Potteries, Bridlington, Balne Moor, Etherow, Leeds Bradford and Mountfleet Models attending. We used our new dock section at this event and we had a fishing boat sneak in during the day. More pictures to follow.

 It was my first time I have been to Kirklees event. I was very impressed, the park is very well kept the lake is excellent with more than enough room for everyone to play. To make life easier you can drive right up to the sailing area to unload your boats . The harbour was good, lots of docking potential areas of boats of all sizes.   A very friendly well run event , that reflected all the work put in setting it up. Definitely worth the trip over the Pennines. The sun shone all day too.

But Stan, is that really a trawler or a Q ship? It coul be as potent as any of the vessels there if she gets her rounds out quick enough:O)

I know I keep saying it, but that dock is amazing. I am impressed with how extensive and detailed it is. The base units look like aluminium equipment cases.

Hi Ian no it is a fishing boat I have some better pictures of the dock area when time allows will post them. The dock is not aluminium I will pass on your comments about it. Sadly I can give any details on construction it is a secret ha ha .
