My Yamaha Viagro

Hi all,
My full size Virago is in winter storage, no boat on the go at the moment, so I decided to make a model of my bike (named Vincent). Made by Tamiya, and what a difference to the kits I made 50 years ago. Absolutely no moulding flash, everything fits quite precisely, and the quality of the "chromed" parts is very good.

unintentional misspelling lol Viagra instead of virago lol , always knew V-Twins were good but not that good lol

had a go of an XV535 and 750 found them to be infinitely better than the Harley's I've had goes on , last Harley I had a ride on was a hard tail chop with a hard mounted engine..... could barely see where I was going due to the vibration shaking my glasses...

Have to admit that if I still had my health it would be Jap V-Twin or Triumph Roadster I'd have my days of fast bikes are long past lol

     Never owned one (my mate has a 1300 very big,very heavy) but I used to borrow an 1100 Virago and thought it was quite pleasant to potter about on especially with the bonus of shaft drive. Re the American iron I tried out a 1200 sportster a couple of years ago and I state categorically it was the worst bike I have ever ridden! This is how I qualify the comment- Dry sunny day mid September the bike was s/hand with under 4000 on the clock on starting the vibes were serious vibes, clutch in into first kerrlunkk, off we go bars shaking tank shaking, clutch in into second kerrlunkk I look down nothing obvious so continue, clutch in into third kerrlunkk so brake (that's another matter) and pull over put the bike on the sidestand and check it over for bits falling off oil pool etc nothing apparent. Off we go again repeat of former noise even going into fourth gear, at 30 MPH you had to be in second or it was a mobile concrete vibrator. I persevered for approx 4 miles then gave up and returned to the shop speaking to the sales guy with my issues the reply was oh they are all like that. Needless to say I stuck with my Tiger 800 and after riding quite a few Japanese cruisers I know what make I would buy and its not from the U.S.A.

Gotta say I love mine (brought as a TIP, and every year I try and replace something, this year it was brand new forward controls).
If I had to moan about anything, try taking the carbs off (done it more times now than I can remember).

  I've never owned a Hardly Rideable though I had a go on my youngest son's bike many years ago and that was enough to re-inforce my prejudices against Uncle Sam's old iron, anyway my boy rode it to Spain to visit his brother and quickly sold it when he got back!!
            My usual ride is a Beemer K75, lowered a bit , but this year by way of a change I fancied a go at a cruiser and choose a used Virago 750 and once I got used to the 'floppy' low speed steering I just love it for general riding around, but the miniscule tank is a bit of a pain having to refill every 95 miles before  hitting reserve.  I find it a pretty easy bike  to maintain,  changed the fork seals this weekend, and I've got a set of clutch plates to fit when the weather gets too bad for riding,
