Graupner mini jet drive motors
« on: January 06, 2016, 04:25:31 pm »

I am building a jet drive windfarm 53 1/24th scale. I have fitted two 1400kv running on 11.1v
The performance was poor, so I was thinking of fitting two 2500kv 500w motors running on
8.4v nimh no load speed would be 21000 rpm. Would that be to many revs for the Graupner
Mini jets? (On load speed would be less but I don't know how much less).

Thanks for reading

my experience with jet-drives is that you want to keep max rpms below 30,000.  you could run the 2500kv motors on a 11.1v battery if you wished

The mini jet drive revs a bit higher, I think as Tim says keeping under 30k rpm you won't go far wrong.

Out of interest how big is the boat? I use one of those jet units in a tiny jet sprint and whilst it goes pretty fast on 3s it's by no means stellar.

Thanks for that tsenecal,
Tom the boat is the twin hulled windfarm supply vessel measuring 25" in length and 10" beam.
