New Kit Needed
« on: January 28, 2016, 02:30:23 pm »

Hi Everyone,
I'm in need of a new kit so that i can let my 6 year old have some fun on the water.
Not too happy letting him have my Severn for a run around!!
I was looking at maybe one of the modelsbydesign fishing boats.
I was wondering is there any kits of the Damen multicats around, maybe from Holland?

thanks

Try a Springer tug, add a few large balls in the water and would have hours of fun.
I had a hatch cover come off one of my boats and watch two 70 year old kids for 1/2 half get it ashore( like a comedy show live).

The only downside to making a Springer for him would be the need for a second one to ensure that he has something to play with.

Just a thought but how about buying something ready to run?

I know it's nice to build him something but that will take time, 6 year olds aren't patient creatures I imagine (No kids myself yet) and at 6 years old he may well run into the odd dock side or bank at the lake.

A ready to run model such as the Severn available from the RNLI will get him on the water in a matter of days with just batteries required and then you could build something much nicer and bigger which he can appreciate more when a bit older.

Just a thought.

Hi Budgie, nice boat, I seem to think you've been on here before? Anyway, I have to agree with the others, at 6 years old he wants it in the water TODAY. Especially as his dad has the best boat in the water and he wants to join the fun. Ready run for now and a simple kit for the next step.   U2
