You do have a point, but there are also people in Southport who will say they are definately Lancashire. It might get a bit complicated?

What if Colwyn bay dropped out ?

My thought was that this was initially just for the Merseyside clubs, hence the name, since then I assume other clubs have joined in..

A possibility would be " Merseyside and Friends Model Boats Association "  or maybe just " The Association of Model Boat Clubs "

As long as the association like other Non related associations have done by starting to say you have to do this, that and the other to conform and all be the same in set up..

:-)

Hence Friends ..

Yes it only has just been formed, We at Runcorn were also in on the initial talks, however for various logistical reasons we have opted not to join at this time, But this could change if it became practical.
No it is not intended as a Governing body( could you really see that working !!) but more in away to try to create a fellowship amongst clubs and to try to cut down on the amount of clashes in dates when Clubs within a reasonable distance to each other put on displays which really does make sense.

:-)

For that Matter we are in Cheshire. As The Merseyside clubs came up with the thought I see no problem with it being called Merseyside , however I think the & Friends would cover All other clubs including any from abroad if they wanted to go that way.

Just for the record.....the name was decided by all involved...and its fair to say many names were banded about.... <*<

Quite a few clubs were invited to join, but declined to join at present.

As to Colwyn Bay joining all the clubs in the association go to Colwyn Bay's Mayor Cup "Do" and it was felt only proper to invite them.

As mentioned by TheLongbuild it was to stop local clubs "Open Days" clashing, and up to know has worked out fine.

For the forseeable future the Association has been formed  by clubs local to Liverpool M.B.C. (the founders of the Association) if we are approached by other interested club/clubs thats fine.

The present clubs in the Association have a very healthy interaction, all visiting each others "open days" and long may it continue.

I note that they are copying Colwyn Bay's "Commodore Regatta Trophy" Competition at all their shows too. I don't think Colwyn Bay's committee will be prepared to limit that competition to just those 6 clubs, when 14 or more have been eligible in previous years.

Our competitions will run in conjunction with any other competitions that any of the other clubs do.

Brilliant idea this fellas

I seen an advert on Liverpools website for models of smit Waterloo and svitzers ashgarth, as far as I am aware no model has ever been made of Waterloo but I have seen an ashgarth at a show
