Jessica Thunderhawk- a steampunk figurine
« on: March 22, 2016, 05:55:44 pm »

My secret hobby!!!

Her name is Jessica Thunderhawk and is 1/24 scale white metal steampunk figure from Scale 75.
She is painted with Vallejo acrylic paint including a set specifically for steampunk colours. She has only received a base coat so far, just her face has had some detailed work carried out.

She is coming along well Nick, Re the eyes, unless the sculpter has gone for a Manga style of innocent wide ipoened eyes, cutting back the whites by painting in the upper and lower eyelids more will add realism in this area.

Excellent start though matey :-)) Looking at Sasha the welder, I worry she may burn her tummy button with sparks of hot metal :embarrassed:

Its certainly a challenge, the eyes are my third attempt to paint them- each time getting smaller! I'm sharpening toothpicks to get the right look as we speak. At least with Vallejo paint its very forgiving and is pre-thinnned for airbrush work so it doesnt take much to correct or change things!
I've bought a few things from industia-mechanika- my favourite is the Dragonfly racer, the resin detail is amazing, it captures the fragile nature of the insect with the etched brass wings with thin cellophane plastic for the membranes. It even comes with a figure for the cockpit. Haven't started it yet, trying to make my mind up what colour to go for- british racing green or bugatti blue, the kind of colours the Le Mans racing cars used to be painted.

They are stunning quality both detail and fit- I've tried a trial fit of the parts and they fit beautifully. I'm hoping that Fichtenfoo brings out the long awaited squid submersible but I've got my eye out for some of the 1/8th scale future cosmonauts too.
