Do you get everything in the photo for $670? Gas tank, condenser etc?

Bonjour Nigel,
Yes, and, as I  also added a whistle and a turbine, I was offered the shipping. I confess that I tested Jin at first fo his prices, twice less compared to our French manufacturers Anton or JMC...
He also sent me a boat ready to navigate, my tug "Vient de Loin" (on which I added a FPV equipment) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sdyREhRPj8 which navigates quite will after a restoration due to a 20 000 km trip.

Hi Raphael,

I follow your YouTube channel and wonder how you're getting on with the Microcosm steam turbine. I've longed after a model of Turbinia and the Microcosm turbine seems a good priced start at it...

Bonjour Jim,
Yes, the turbine is cheap, but I have to recognize that it does not work out of the box. If you have seen this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC-MIX5SC5w&t=11s you can see that it needs a lot of steam for a poor result and this was not the monely isue..
My friend Eric rebuilt it (bearings destroyed had to be changed, admission steam injector added, gearbox changed) for this result with a more powerful boiler :  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4jFwIQpJ5k
As I have not the appropriate boiler, the turbine is on a shelf and the boiler for another projet ok2

Bonjour! I did expect the quality to not be quite there for the price it is. I think I shall keep hunting or failing that build one!

I assume the turbine is uni directional only? There is no reversing turbine and nozzle built in?

Bonjour Jim,
You are right, there is no reverse on this turbine. A friend, Adrien SENZ, very good modelist also known for his oscillating machine built by hundred of French beginners https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lM9S2UfXKvk without a lathe, has conceived and realized a reverse twin rotor turbine : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnmoVrhQizw

Mike,
Why don't you have a look at   ( http://www.pendlesteamboilers.com/Products/ )   They have a reputation for making fine boilers and are U.K. based, I would suspect that their boilers and Shipping will out way anything coming from China.
there are several members of this forum who have bought boilers from Pendle steam and are more than satisfied with them., so why not buy British. ?

P.S. I have no connection what so ever with Pendle Steam Boilers.

George.

I'd be intrigued to see some more information on that turbine if you have any, please? Would he be happy to share a set of drawings for the turbine perchance?

Bonjour,
For information, I also have a Pendlesteam Kingdon boiler http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,60003.msg636685.html#msg636685 and I confirm its quality. About the turbine, sorry, Adrien built it without any plan, and he did it more than 25 years ago.
