Oh dear. Tom was without doubt one of the most knowledgeable and skilled ship modellers this country has ever produced. He was also unfailingly polite, modest and good humoured - a real gentleman. There are tears in my eyes - sorry.

I am sad to say that I have not heard of Mr Gorman. I see that he wrote a number of useful books when I searched for his name.

I am sad to say that I have not heard of Mr Gorman. I see that he wrote a number of useful books when I searched for his name.

He was one of the fore runners of POF kits, including the drifter, pilot boat , a lovely 3 island cargo vessel and some others that I can't remember that eventually went to another manufacturer if I remember rightly.

They were always sold as limited edition models and were, for the time very expensive compared with Caldercraft boats of the time.
I have seen some of them at the Norwich model boat club sailings in the distant past and they made lovely models.

He was a man ahead of his time with model kits, and also wrote a couple of good books to help beginners into the hobby.

Sad to read of this - I have most of his books and they have been read over and over.
A fine modeller............ lost to this community.

Thomas was a very good personal friend, I am really sadened by his passing.
He had been very ill for a number of years, but never failed to spread his knowledge and cheer to everyone he met!

He always had me in stitches, with his stories of his younger life and his exploits :-)

RIP Tom

Only met him once at an MMM day, what knowledge and support he had for everyone, not only that he could explain in simple language to a numpty like me, his books are the same. A sad loss to the modeling world
