Brian King - RIP
« on: June 07, 2016, 08:34:16 pm »

I have just heard the sad news today, that we have lost one of this countries greatest model makers.

Brian king sadly passed away after a long illness. He was truly a great font of knowledge, superb model maker, author and a genuinley great man!

Sad news indeed. He had only recently moved into residential accommodation and sold his models at auction.

He was certainly one of the best ship modellers of his generation and a long standing supporter of the Model Engineer Exhibition where he won many awards. The modelling community is a poorer place for his passing. I will remember him with great affection.

Sad indeed. Not words to use lightly, but Brian really was a great model builder. He beat me once at a competitive exhibition.........and I thought I was going to win until I saw his entry...RIP Brian.

Likewise. I met him after the auction in March and found him to be a witty and lovely chap. Of course his modelmaking was first class as seen on the models  being loaded into vehicles. Their  build and finish quality was flawless.

Rest in peace Mr King.

I have been told by Brian's close friend David Watkin that Brian's funeral will  be held at Woking Crematorium, Surrey  (Hermitage Road, St John's, GU21 8TJ) on Monday 27 June at 11:45 am. The undertakers are Walter Wortt of Addlestone.

Brian's fellow modellers are welcome.
