Got something to do with AREA's, the front one's are never moved , it's all done with the back one's . . . an old sheetie (Sheetmetal worker) could do the same with triangles,  had us all bamboozled . . .

Yes I see the "trick" with the sloping edges, however the pieces are not turned over, unless, I missed it on the original.

The front is marked in tiles, the back is plain?????

The flip of the trick piece is edited out. If you watch the the vid on youtube it is noted in the comments.
Edits can be noted at 0.35 and 2.20.
Additionally, if you look closely you can see that the in the middle section, where two halves would join, things don't quite line up. In fact some of the squares are also elongated.

Notice that once the parts are tipped out of the box, the two halves of the puzzle are not put together until the end. Avoiding the problem of things not lining up.
