Fairmount kit query ?????
« on: June 22, 2016, 07:30:16 pm »

Hey guys back again lol

In the kit there's a piece of copper round bar around 5mm diameter and about 450 mm long

I can't see what it's for on the plans and jus wondering if any of the builders would know or am I just missing something on the plan

Thanks

Graeme

According to the instructions that's Part 271 and it's used to make Goose-neck vents  See figure 25.

thy need not be fake . I did away with the metal mine was a length of alli rod . Bending and getting the angles rightwas a bit of a take on .  I  used evergreen plastic pipe the same dia. made up templates and then cut and glued then . To get the angles around the superstructure . I turned my bends using the Lobster Back method its a bit fiddly but you get a more realistic turn . I still have the templates but if I am not exactly the same as yours thy will be no good . After I made them up I pressure tested them so if at a later date I wanted to use them I could . please PM me if you need clarification on lobster back pipe turns .

Thanks David.  I'm not sure if I'm going to fit them at this time as I'm planning on having working monitors so will be running piping up internally . May jus do it for accuracy to the real ship at a later date
