Following on from our main open day in July it is just six week now to our final event of 2016. If you like model warships or anything military then please feel free to come and see us on Sunday 11 September at Wilton Park, Bradford Road, Batley. Free car parking all day, refreshments, raffle prizes.  This event is on the same day as a classic car rally in the park, so two events in one.   If you do not have any grey funnel line ships you are still welcome to come along and join in. I am praying for a good weather for the 11 September. If we can have dry day it will be a hat trick for our main events. I am not sure who is going to turn up on the day trade and clubs but you are all most welcome. Please note no I c or fast electric.

Well our main open day events are now all complete and we have been blessed with fabulous weather  for all three events. Yesterday was our navy/military event.  This was run in conjunction with a classic car rally. This worked very well with lots of members of the public in the park for both events. We had clubs from Balne Moor, Runcorn, York, BMES, Crewe, Goole, Bury Metro Marine, Leeds Bradford and HMES. Sorry if I have missed you from this list. Yesterday I was asked for details of next years dates.

Sunday 9 July Main Open Day.

Sunday 10 September Navy Day which may be run in conjunction with the classic car rally.

Finally I would like to thank all clubs that have visited Kirklees open days and have helped to make them a success. Hope to see you all again in 2017.

That looked a good collection of displays including many tanks and associated kit. I reckon you would be very welcome Eddie.

Hi Ned,

That's funny lol. Last night while enjoying a balmy late summer evening outside on the patio. My Wife Googled the Portsmouth Yardstick rules. Needless to say that Debbie got a bit bored after the first page but got the general drift.
So in answer to you question. No we didn't.
A lesson learnt here. Length water line is a vital element for sailing yachts fast.
In other words don't  try and race a footy against a 5 foot long J Class.

Cheers,

Nick.

Hello Nick,

I did notice how your Footy responded to the slightest amount of wind, by speeding up - - the J Class didnt !.
The weight of the boat has a lot to do with sailing in very low wind speeds.
I have never sailed so close to small yachts - - I was quite nervous !!!!.

Hi John,

It was good fun fun trying to chase your J class.

I'm going to be building a couple more Ranger footys over winter. So next year I'll  lend you one for the day and you can experience what it's like to sail a proper Rc Yacht !! Lol.

Cheers,

Nick.
