Plans required for Cunard Liner Caronia please
« on: October 04, 2016, 01:52:50 am »

Hi,
Would anyone happen to have a set of plans for the Cunard Liner, Caronia please? It is the second of the three ships of this name, and known as the Green Goddess, because of her unusual colour.I have a major rebuild to do and any plans would be most welcome
Many Thanks
Mick

The only suggestion I could make, would be to contact either Cunard archives or the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich.

Good luck with your restoration, she looks a beautiful model.

I have often wondered when watching the 007 film, Dr No, whether the ship tied up in the Bahama's was one of these class of ships.

Does anyone know what that ship was, as it is a stern view for a few seconds whilst JB is searching for Quarrel, the boat owner who eventually takes him out to Crab Key.

I have a set of the old 1:600 scale Modelcaft waterline plans. They are not all that detailed but do show the positioning of deckhouses and general layout.

Jim, Caronia was a unique vessel, distinguished by her green hull and upperworks and enormous funnel. The second two funnelled Mauretania was also painted green for cruising as were the smaller postwar Saxonia and Ivernia, renamed Carmania and Franconia for cruising.

Document postage is usually pretty reasonable  The selling price is pretty good too, less than 12 quid.   I recently priced some drawings for my Queen Mary and they were £50.   They may a bit on the small side but they are scaled.
