Whilst contemplating what to buy as a first major tug kit, I had toyed with the idea of an RTR Southampton. However, I have just found what appears to be a good deal on a Robbe Neptun, which looks like a kit you could modify somewhat to get a better appearance. The kit is sold in the UK and for £127.80, you get it, plus fittings and motor - which I think is not bad.
Now, question. How difficult is this kit to build? I am not that good at cutting things out but from what I can see, there is little to do in that respect with this kit. The wheelhouse appears to be ABS and windows pre-cut, with 'glazing' available and the other pieces look like they can be mastered with a good eye and some holding of breath.....!
Can anyone advise me as to whether this would be a good starter? She looks a little like the 'Emsgarth' (Built 1975 as 'Juist' at Cassens, Emden). Also, something similar to the 'Nordeney', which became to 'Gwentgarth'. Both very nice looking tugs.
I also hear she is good at steering and is able to be modified somewhat..........
I cannot find reviews anywhere so am looking to you lot to assist! This will be my first major project and I have lots of time, so c'mon guys - would it suit a starter with an experience level of (on a scale of 1 - 10), 2 to 3?
