Hey guys,
Thanks an ocean for the input. I think I'm better off with the Nordkap over the others. I figure I'd have a better chance at keeping interested and becoming passionate with boatcrafting by keeping it simple. I don't want a half finished "beautiful" ship such as the Rotterdam or Alpine, because the challenges were too much. That said, there is a simplicity to the Nordkap.
Ballastanksian, I live dead in the middle of the Canadian Flatlands/Prairies. Watersheds are scarce in my region. There are a few natural waterways, but very muddy water for the most part. Most of the ponds, or as the locals refer to as lakes (they're NOT lakes) were formed as natural waterways were diverted or from small dams. You would guess for farming reasons, but unfortunately, all in the name of oil. It's easier to drill and extract oil from dry ground they say. The closest area where a bunch of guys do get to get her in natural rivers, lakes, ponds etc, is 4 hours away.
Anyway, I shall not be deterred from it. I'll build the boat and they will bring the water to me. (HAHA)
I will keep you guys updated from time to time maybe.
