Boat Identification Please
« on: June 12, 2017, 04:53:39 pm »

Hello Mayhemers, I bought this on an impulse from Ebay as a possible restoration project.
Any ideas as to what it may be and how old she may be?

Looking around Google it looks similar to a Sea Rover.
Any advice / information gratefully received.

It cost £17.50 A bargain or money wasted?
I love these old boats so I thought it wasn't too bad a price.

I would say a bargain for someone wishing to restore a nice vintage wooden boat, although I have no idea as to what it is.

Looks like an old aerokits sea scout to me. If it's 24 inches long it definitely is.

Hi
The Aerokits Sea Scout is 24 inches and the Sea Rover is 29 and 1/2 inches.
If it is the Sea Rover, I have a PDF copy if you require.

I'm fairly certain that it's a "Sea Rover" without the rear canopy  :-))

The "Sea Scout" has a single front window...

I'd concur with Vintage.  Another Lesro design.

On a closer look at the boat and the plan.
The cabin side windows look the same ,also the flat area on the cabin side aft of frame 3 match's up.
Frame 2 between the two cabin side windows does not go the top of the cabin sides as per the plan.

I believe vintage is right, it is a Sea Rover.

Thank you all for your replies,

I'm sorry i forgot to include the measurements, they are,

Length 29 1/2 inches
Beam 9 1/2 ish inches

So it looks like it is a Sea Rover.
I also should have mentioned that the £17.50 was inclusive of postage. So I think it was a bargain.  :-)

Canabus, I would very much like to have a copy of any information that you may have. My Email Address is in my profile, if you are able to see that. If not, i'm not sure how we communicate privately on this forum.
I will, of course pay for any costs incurred.

Thank you also to those who posted the lovely old adverts, I'm thinking of buying some like these and having them framed.

Ian.

They can be very attractive decorations and a great reminder of the dim distant days of our youth when we studied the adverts  wishing we could afford the models.

By the by, don't forget to add the missing spray rails.  I'm willing to bet that the model as she is shipped a lot of water.  You might want to make sure those panel pins holding the deck down are well sealed up before they rot away.  Good luck.

Hi All
I built the Sea Hornet and have the Sea Commander.
Also have the Crash Tender.
The Swordsman did not fit by batteries, so am build it a bit longer with a bit more point on the bow.
Re named the Sea Raven.
All are powered by brushless motors.
All my old brush motors I gave to a club member.
