Hey Stan I managed to get it to load the images.  Stan thank you for calling it really is appreciated.  Love the build, it’s been said before but it’s worth saying again I haven’t seen anything that comes close to your build quality and attention to detail.  I can’t wait to see Grand Banks on the water.

The next steps in construction are now taking shape sorry for the pun. I have had to make new scroll items that are fitted on the top hand rails. These have been made from laminated teak veneer and cut and sanded to shape. Brass pins have been fitted to give a more secure joint. Prior to fitting a small amount of wood filler is applied to one face when brought together this squeezes out filling any gaps this is then sanded to match the rail. Final picture shows were the timber strips will be applied to represent the stern door.  The final coats of varnish will be sprayed to give a better finish.

I have been trying to find flour paper for a while most DI Y shops say never heard of it. Once again the thanks to the net I have finally located the said paper at a jewellers supply outlet. You may ask what is flour paper a very fine grit ideal for getting a really smooth finish. I have taken the plunge and ordered 10 sheets.

Flour paper I haven't heard that name for a long time we used it a lot at Camper & Nicholsons yachts it give a lovely surface to the exotic woods prior to finishing polish, also known as Silicon Carbide paper.

I think that the term "glass paper" derives from when abrasive paper actually used crushed glass in various grades of fineness. I don't know if glass is used nowadays. I do remember flour paper, it was extremely fine.

Hi with the sun shining in the garage and a little secondary heat all was well. Flipping cold in the wind though.

The hand rails are now finished. Next job varnish deck area then leave for a few days to allow the finish to harden then in to the paint shop.

Just a few pictures showing the finish on the hand rails and the deck areas. The handrails are gloss varnished applied by air brush the deck sections  are sprayed with a mix of 1 part gloss 2 parts matt. Sorry about the table cloth.

Hi the three holes will be for the two gold taps and the shower hose. I presume this was used after swimming and would be supplied from a fresh water supply.

The woodwork is a nice light colour. The white will offset it nicely I think.

Just two pictures today. The wood filler from Rustins has been first class the colour is good and very close to the teak veneer. Second picture shows how I have bent the brass rod around the original part supplied in the kit. The metal in the kit is very thin and will not allow for any slight bending to make it fit.
