Speedline Model
« on: August 23, 2019, 04:42:25 pm »

As many of you know, our doors close on the 31st August for new orders. Allowing eight weeks to clear everything we shut up on 31st October (sounds familiar).
As I have said before, when the fourth Shannon goes, we shut even if it is before the end of this month.
We have one left as I write this!
I have the resin castings for two 1/16th Severns, one 1/12th Severn and a Tamar left so I think we've done very well in terms not a lot left in stock.
Soon, under this heading (if Martin will permit me), I will do a list of all the fittings I still have left over for 1/12 Severns, Trents and Tamars and 1/16 scale Severns. There is quite a lot that might be of interest and it will be cheap.
I have sold the masters and moulds for the crewmen (of both scales) and they will be available under a new flag sometime soon.
As far as Speedline Kits are concerned, I am not sure yet but they could well be available, again, also under new ownership.
Speedline will support all its customers (except for one) for spare parts and the like for as long as I am able to.
Many thanks to all my customers over the past eighteen years or so, it has been a pleasure.
Happy modelling everyone.
Adrian

I should add that I have complete decal sets for the Shannon class at £45 (nearly cost).

I don't know who you are and why would you want to post here that you called but got no answer and that I didn't answer the phone?
Who cares?
If you wish to communicate then talk to me.
Can I remind everyone that Speedline models is closed.
The web site does not exist  now and the email adress has been stopped.the people who are customers with orders still outstanding can call me anytime.
For everyone else who may want such things as stanchions, if you call me and I have some stock then fine but I will be taking no orders for kits now.
The Trent might still get finished but will appear on the market via someone else.
So now I can do what I want anytime without having to make stuff for anyone. Can you imagine the relief?
It's great!

Bad new?
The only things I am making for anyone is for the kits I had on order at midnight on 31st August. After that I stopped taking orders.
Whats the problem?

I think that Dave means than you tend to be even busier after you retire than you were before it.

Yup, it is a truism that most retired people wonder how the hell they ever had time for work.

The remainder tend to have a rather shortish retirement.

Me? I'm driving around the northern shore of the Gulf of Corinth this week and spent this morning climbing around the ancient site of Delphi on Mount Parnassus. It features the belly button of the world. You don't see that every day.

Once you release a product there will always be folk who need support for it afterwards. Some of them can be pretty persistent and ingenious. One bloke actually turned up unannounced at the house, with his model in the back seat. If you truly wish to put Speedline behind you then you must be prepared to change both your phone number and E-Mail address, because in practice it's impossible to remove all reference to them on the Internet.
I still receive referrals of ACTion units which were purchased before we bought the business from Craig Talbot in 2007. I usually find that dealing with them is much the best way of avoiding that little twinge of conscience which otherwise stops me getting to sleep at night!

Thanks to furball for putting me right.
It is very difficult to make a break but how else can you do it?
I am building a 5/8th scale model of a 1906 GP Renault. it has a small honda engine, its a cyclekart really and I hope to take it to all the cyclekart meets. Being a modeller I needed to make something scale. Its fun and looks great though is costing more than I had planned for!
