I started my thread to see what you are all doing during the lock down this includes new projects. We are very fortunate to have a great hobby to help us through these difficult times. Seeing these new projects taking shape will help us all to to stay sane it what could be a long shutdown.

well i have been tidying out the second half of my conservatory with a view to expanding my workshop into there, today i will be building storage, i have a  set of over bed cupboards with the side cupboards to support it, this will fit perfectly around the window from the house, beneath that I will have a couple of bedside drawer units, all i need to make is a 12" riser for each side to adjust the over window cupboard height, these will contain a couple of 11 1/2" high small drawer units, and as everything will be made from what i have in hand (no unessential travel after all, i have a wooden bed head and foot to disassemble for the stock timber to construct the risers, this will give me a whole lot of storage for the new area, and i can run a shelf across at window ledge height as a work bench.

Then the shafts props and rudders can be fitted for the final time

Agree with a ban on Taranis's workshop photos, they just invoke feelings of jealousy, envy, (and total admiration), amongst us 'kitchen table' modellers !!!!!!

Slow start in the shop today but I did get the waterline indelibly marked. Won't be warm for a while to lacquer the lower hull so started painting the necessary so mid deck can be fitted.

A dry fit check

Last night I posted a picture of a working table lamp. Tonight's pictures show it fitted  to the piece of furniture. Most of the furniture still needs a coat of gloss varnish

Can't believe it's a year since joining Mayhem and nearly 7 months since posting my last model photo. I have visited quite a few times to see what's going on and have to say the modelling skills shown on here still amaze me.
I have completed a few models during that 7 months and there is a small collection of kits waiting to be started, all following the same theme – that being British tanks.

The main problem is my “workshop” is our small bedroom (2 x 3.1mtrs) which also doubles as my computer room. So in there is a large PC, a monitor, a printer and a large desk to put them on. Plus my good lady insisted on having a bloody great wardrobe in there as well – up to now that is. Consequently, all airbrushing has to be done in the garage which I find too cold in the winter months. My chosen scale is 1:35 which means boats a difficult; smaller scales are out due to my clumsy fingers and weakening eyesight. However there is light at the end of the tunnel as the missus has agreed the wardrobe can now go in the second bedroom, this means room for a small spray booth, providing I stick to acrylics. At last all year round modelling is a possibility, including 1:35 boats.
Picture below shows work so far; Chally 2 (Desertised) - Chally 1 – Chieftain Mk5 – ready for painting Crusader Mk3.

The Chally 1 and Chieftain have come out too dark. I have learnt that gloss varnishing prior to decals darkens colours and a lighter shade is required to get more authentic colour, post vanish. Weathering and ageing is beyond me at the moment so I realise there is still a long way to go with my painting skills. I'm hoping to introduce better visual effects in time.

I have a challenger, chieftain and a Warrior but all at 1:72nd scale and no vessel to put them in - well one that wouldn't be out of place that is.

I guess the British navy must have vessels big enough to transport Challengers, has anyone on here modelled one and how big would it be in 1:35 scale?

I like the way you've tackled those scuppers Terry, a lot of people modelling Milford Star seem to struggle with that task.

I got the mid deck and superstructure fitted and primed and all the other bits checked for dry fit . Supposed to be warm tomorrow afternoon so I'll get the lower hull lacquered and running gear fitted.

After careful  thought I have decided to make the fly bridge removable. I have fitted three 2mm brass bolts which will be under the seats. In turn the seats will be held in place with magnets. Pictures show the bolts in position  also some pictures showing the fly bridge brass work primed ready for final point job.
