Has anyone considered a Cordless Leaf Blower as a motor & battery for a model boat?

 I once bought a cheap cordless drill to experiment .... can't remember what happened to that project .....
 Care heater blowers used to be quite popular in the past


 What about other alternative motive power you've tried?



                       

 ... of course, this maybe just be Monday Morning thinking ......

I have used a car radiator fan motor in one of my boats. It was quire large but produced loads of torque.


For micro boats I have used stripped down servos. The motors can directly drive a very small propeller and the circuit board can be used as a simple speed controller.

I used an electric ducted fan with a brushless motor on an airboat amazing performance

I used a golf trolley motor in my Mary Jane 52 inch cabin cruiser. (Vic Smeed Vivacity) I even used the 17ah battery and the trolley's speed control linked to a 1/4 scale servo. Over 2 hrs sailing.

The first boat my dad made me involved pinching the wind up motor from my Nans gramophone, whole in the side of the boat to wind it up, big two bladed prop, great fun as a fee runner  :-))
