main mast nav lights
« on: September 23, 2022, 08:15:51 pm »

hi, all
are the navigation lights on the main mast {christmas tree back in my day}, all generic to all vessels or are the lights added to suit the pacific needs to individual ships, im asking because i cant clarify what colour lights are on the work boat that im building, lack of good pics. As a work boat i would have thought it would be able to show, red, white, red, meaning restricted movement, but my research pic doesnt seem to show these combination of lights, and thats the combination i want working when i get to that stage of my build.

The red white red lamps are usually mounted to either or both sides of the forward mast for 360° visibility.
Not sure which model you are building, but the contemporary masts often reflect that type of positioning.

.
The lower three of the lamps out at the end of the yard arms.

Thanks for your quick reply, the photo of Severn Supporter is most helpful because it is the very vessel I'm building, the pic of the mast when zoomed in illustrates my lack of understanding well, bottom light is red, middle light looks green, top light also red, (no white)
