Andy's stationary engine restoration projects were of the highest standards. Some of you may have followed his projects on Facebook.

At least two pastimes are the poorer for his passing but he left a legacy of quality and patience in his works.

I believe he was a veteran of the Parachute Regiment as well, so a hat doff is due there. Thankyou for your service Mr Waters.

I was truly shocked to be reading this when I logged into the forum tonight. As has been said Andy was a great model boat builder and I've been enjoying his foray into his new interest of stationary engines and building and fitting out his new workshop.

A very sad loss on so many fronts and thoughts are with his family.

I just want to add to all of the sentiments already posted. I am very shocked and saddened to learn of his death. The one thing I hope his family can take from this is that the joy we've all had from following his modelling journey will live on through all the skills and advice he has passed onto us, myself included. I will miss him very much. RIP Andy Waters

I was contacted by Dave Jones (Stavros) on Saturday evening and he wishes to pass on the following message of condolence:

Despite our differences, and not seeing eye to eye on the Mayhem forum, I still had the greatest respect towards Andy as a modeller. As someone who has suffered from a stroke recently I would never wish this on anyone. My deepest condolences to Andy’s family.
RIP Andy.

I have already made my condolences to Andys family and I truly hope that they are coping at this difficult time. What I was not aware of was that Andy was an ex Para, we are a very unique bunch of people (ex 2 Para) and Andy was one of us jump well with the angels Airbourne, Utrinque paratus!

I sat with the keyboard infront of me and struggled to come up with the words...

Andy was an inspiration, a "doer"...

The approach & methods he used both in model boat building and more recently his static engine refurb's were second to none - I learn't loads - if you blinked you missed chapters of progress.

I'd often have a "messenger" session with him sharing views on everything and anything.

You will be missed by many

RIP my friend
