Engel submarine cover seal
« on: April 24, 2023, 12:30:13 pm »

Hi, what’s the best material to use to make a new seal for an Engel submarine. I am talking about the seal for the cover that seals the lower hull. Thanks

Flat hatches are not my favourite method but this build log shows the use of O ring "cord", I think:

Hi, I just made one using 3mm aluminium sheet. I also replaced the 3mm rubber cord used with 3mm sponge rubber insulation tape which gives a far better area of water seal

Hi Terry1956

Is it a flat top?
when I first started we used to cover the lid with cling film.  then we covered the top of the WTC with Silicon sealant, the top was then placed onto the sealant and pushed down into the sealant until you had the thickness of the gasket that was required, then you leave it for about a week.
This is best done with all the internals removed.
As I said this is old school and very messy, things have moved on and the way David said is better.

That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.
