So we have a few of these which we use for the kids, they are still on the original twin motors but all new electronics, just wondering the motor set up still have the six resistor thingies to stop interference,  are these really necessary and if one is faulty would it intermittently stop one of the motors from working?

The three capacitors (on each motor) are there for noise suppression.  These were beneficial when running with 40 MHz radios/receivers (75 MHz, here across the pond). 

If you are still using the old radio equipment (i.e. 40 MHz), then you should keep them.
If you are running newer 2.4 GHz radio/receiver equipment, the noise suppression won't matter (to the best of my knowledge).  It isn't going to harm things to leave them in place.  If you replace the motors, you won't need to add them (as long as using 2.4 GHz equipment).

In short, it depends on the radio equipment being used today.

As for inhibiting the motor function, these capacitors should not affect the motor function.  If the motor is working intermittently, the motor brushes/contacts or core/windings may be bad. 

Sounds like an old motor that has deteriorated with time.  May need to replace.

Hi, thanks for the reply, using 2.4, but one of the motors is intermittent in starting so wondering if 1 of the capacitors was faulty it could cause that.

What type of speed controls are being used??  New or old?

Mtroniks 15 viper, have tested on 2 other vipers which I know too be fine but with same results.
Sometimes they will both start no probs, other times you need to give it a little touch and it starts  only other thought was that maybe some grease has got onto the brushes inside the can ?

Are the motors wired in a series connection?

Think it may just be the motor, turning them slowly,  you can hear nothing from the one which seems ok but the other ones sounds like the clicking when you are opening an old safe with the clicking so guess there is a foreign object in side the can, or one of the brushes have failed.
