Bluebird of Chelsea build in Model Boats
« on: June 10, 2024, 04:18:48 pm »

Asking for a friend - no, really, I am!
A friend has acquired a Bluebird of Chelsea hull.  I have a vague recollection of a series of articles in Model Boats of a build of this boat, perhaps 1980s??  I might be completely mistaken, but if anyone can point me in the right direction, I might be able to help my friend (who isn't a member here - but I might persuade him if this works out!).

And if anyone actually has the relevant copies and could photocopy the articles....?

Thanks in advance.

Greg

Hi Greg, the series on Bluebird of Chelsea was in model boats from October 1991 (which included the full size plan) with the final, ninth, part being in July 1992.

Many thanks Colin and Phil. Obviously I don't want you to duplicate each others efforts. If yoy each could let me know what you have I will let the hull owner know and he can decide how he wants to proceed. And thanks Dave for identifying the issues with the articles.

Thanks again.

That's a beautiful model and we oldies must remember Bryan Young whose name appears on the display. A fine builder and a lovely man who helped many of us with his experience and advice :-))

Back home! I do have the full sets of articles in pdf format in two very large files of around 23MB each.

The best way to send these is via 'We Transfer' which is a free service but I will need an email address to download them to. I don't have the plans myself.

Indeed Bob. I have sent off the original Dave Metcalf articles to the prospective builder now.

Many thanks Greg, I'm now here. I've also joined wetransfer. However I'm on a tour of Newfoundland/Labrador at the moment so internet is a little haphazard. 😁 Best wishes Rob

Hi Rob, you were sent the We Transfer Bluebird file link to your email by we transfer on 12th June. Maybe it is in your spam folder. The link is only good for 7 days so may have expired. If so, let me know and I will resend.
Cheers,
Colin
