For the glazing I laser cut 0.4mm ply window ‘rubbers’ that slightly overhang the window holes so that the ‘glass’ will drop in from the interior. Printing the window shapes onto clear film helps cutting the panes to the right size and shape. That’s the plan anyway.

It worked! Made a few spare ‘rubbers’ as they are very fragile. Didn’t have to use too many.

A much later photo of the stern area shows a small louvre/slit vent on the engine-room stern bulkhead. I’ve added a few more down the sides of the engine room.

I've been making little bits and pieces over the last week or so, and these are now all finished and painted. Just need to start attaching them around the boat.

The horn took longer to make than planned. I formed the mouth/trumpet by pressing a mould into very thin hot styrene. 10 attempts for 2 starters. One made it to the cut.

As this boat is from the Waikato I should have replaced the horn with a cow-bell. The Waikato rugby team's mascot is Mooloo (a cow) and the fans all take cow-bells to big games and ring them at crucial times when they are winning. Unfortunately I've come away from many games against my team (Wellington) with tears in my eyes and cow-bells ringing in my ears.

All finished!!

Well, the past few days have been quite productive. I managed together everything finished, without too many problems.
So, here are some photos of the finished item.

Quite a simple little build, which strangely enough brings its own problems – I started to rush things and take short-cuts. Never a good idea. I need to try and slow down and enjoy the process.

Working to a deadline doesn't help either, I'm off on holiday on Monday and wanted it all done before I leave. Plenty of time over the next 6 weeks to start thinking about the next project – and the Maui is still in a box, waiting, half finished, 4 years later. Haven't been rushing that.

She looks very sympathetic with the unique colours and sleek lines.
