RC setup for. Model Boat - Help needed. - Edinburgh
« on: August 17, 2024, 02:25:01 pm »

Hi there - I've bought an old model boat with existing RC inside but I can't work out how it works. I can see a rudder servo and a motor but there are two Fatuba male connectors not connected to anything. The seller said I'd need a 2 channel radio kit. That's beyond my knowledge. Any idea how I'd get help - near Edinburgh ?

Any ideas welcomed. Alistair

sounds like "all" you need is a transmitter, receiver and battery (or 2)
you can get fairly cheap 2 channel setups, but for just a few pennies more you can get 4 or 6 channel
make sure you get 2.4 GHz and don't get palmed off with 27, 35 or 40 MHz

from the way you describe it I'm guessing the motor has no battery either
so you'll need one to suit the motor
a picture of what you do have would be useful
if the motor controller is fairly modern, you might be able to do away with the receiver battery
HTH
cheers

If you can supply a photo of the mystery RC we can possibly tell you chapter and verse on what you have.
