LED Batten light flashing intermittently
« on: February 01, 2025, 10:45:21 am »

Has any one had this issue with a LED batten light ?., turns on with no problems but occasionaly goes into disco mode and starts to flash, then stops, sometimes starts to flash again , other times does not. The other lights it is connected to are fine and has been up around 2-3 years ?.

I've had that twice, once with a batten light and once with a circular bathroom light. In both cases I found a partially burnt out individual LED in the string of LEDs within the fitting.

The other issue that can arise is when the LEDs may be OK, but the step down transformer from mains to LED voltage fails as this can get warm. Most commonly happens with individual LED bulbs.

I don't think you can make a repair, the best bet is to buy a higher quality fitting. The cheap ones do fail quite often.

With a single LED you can bridge it or with a bit of brain surgery, replace the individual slice.
