Submarine Advise Please
« on: August 25, 2025, 10:23:47 am »

Good Morning,

Requesting advise from all the sundodgers on this board, I have just done a deal to buy the submarine as pictured below. I have not owned a submarine model before so any advise would be appreciated - what are the pitfalls ?

Also is it best to keep it on 40Mhz radio or can I user my dual Channel 2.4/900 radio - what are the pros and cons

Thanks in anticipation of your help

Hi,
Looks like OTW HMS Artful ?.
Personally if its a running working submarine on 40 megs and its your first "boat" i would not mess about with it whatsoever.
Just familiarise yourself with the controls and learn what it all does, a correctly set up submarine can VERY easily be put right out of shape, balance etc by moving things about especially if you don't know all the nuances of a model submarine, and they can be a real pain and very time consuming to get it back right.
Pitfalls....none.....if it's been built correctly with failsafes etc, and sail her where you know what the sailing water is like, ie no underwater obstruction etc.
Hope its of use.
And more importantly ENJOY and welcome to a niche part of the hobby.
