Thread siz of StirlingKit gas tank
« on: July 17, 2025, 09:50:44 pm »

Hey - I seem to have forgotten the thread size of my gas tank from a StirlingKit boiler and tank plant.
Any ideas? Want to get another bigger tank but not necessarily from StirlingKit at this time.
Cheers
Derek

The most likely size will be 1/4 by 40 threads per inch, Cheddar used 1/4 by 32

Thanks - I order a new tank from Clevedon Steam, the thread is 1/4’ x 32TPI.
Will try a 1/4 40 on the old one.

Best of my knowledge, I never saw Microcosm use any non-metric threads.
I have that same tank, I do not know its thread size, but I seem to remember them using threads like M8 x 1 or M8 x 0,75.
Not sure.
I know that the capnut for that particular connection is metric 9 mm hex, because I have to open and close that one every time I fill my tank.

Not at home for another 10 days so I cannot check.

Not sure why anyone would want a bigger tank, I can get 35 minutes "balls out" steaming, or almost 75 minutes when just only manouvering and slow running out of that tank.
