Is that P93 on/off switch? I have bow thruster in one model and found small 5A ESC to be very convenient.

Very interesting. I wonder how many amps those motors will pull? I have a 1/16th Trent with a pair of 600 sized motors turning the shafts via a 2.3:1 reduction and I'm using a P94 with a couple of P95's fitted with 15A fuses and these fuses blow as soon as you apply power. And the boats not even in the water! The model was designed to use Graupner Speed 600's of some variety - there are numerous versions of that motor - and via direct drive to so Im at a bit of a loss why the motors (which are not Graupner Speed 600's) are pulling so much current?

Are you putting too much voltage through them Simon? Could they be 6v motors?

You think that could be it Colin?? I have a habit of thinking volts equals performance. Maybe if I use a 2S LiPo instead then? I might try running the motors on my old mains versatile PSU to see what it sounds like

That's the problem with unlabelled can motors, you have no idea of the actual specification and number of windings. If you have a multimeter run the connection through that on the amp setting at low voltages to see what the motors are drawing. I bought a couple of 500 unlabelled motors for a kit once and found they were power hungry monsters and entirely unsuitable for the boat. They were probably intended for electric drills etc.

Performance is a balance of volts, amps and propeller loadings, to make a crude comparison. Hopefully someone on here will have a similar model which will give you an indication of an appropriate combination for this particular model. I don't build that type of boat so can't really help.

I 'am  pleased to say a  :-)) to Speedline on the arrival of my order of a 1/16th Severn class lifeboat. I'ts taken a "few" months to arrive, it's going to be a winter project. I hope Adrian gets a few orders now they are up and running.

Hi, :-))

I am starting to build a severn lifeboat 1/16 , what i am looking for is the measurements for the rudders and the starting point for the hole for the prop shaft to go through. Yes I can work it out but the plans do not show the precise point, so if anyone can show some pointers with measurements or even a couple of pic,s ,it would be a great help  ;) there is a jig but does not show where abouts in the hull it sits >:-o

Right, I dug out the instructions for my 1/16 Severn.  I positioned the rudders differently from the instructiions so I'll give you both mine and Speedline's measurements.  When I refer to the transom, I mean a line drawn perpendicular to the centre line at the centre of the transom.

Speedline say the rudders should be 60mm forward of the transom and 35mm each sde of the centre line.I have mine 40mm forward of the transom and 44mm each side of the centre line.
My props are 98mm apart, so 49mm each side of the centreline.   The centres of the A frame uprights are 110mm forward of the transom (mine matches Speedline on this) and the propshafts holes start (ie closest to the transom) 85mm forward of the centre of the A frame uprights.
Hope that makes some sense.Phil

Cheers for the reply :-))

You say you have got instructions on the build, I don't have any thing only the plans to work of that's why I asked these questions. I don't know if you could copy them and post them on here or some how I can obtain a copy  ok2
