Model plans
« on: January 20, 2008, 03:07:18 pm »

Looking at the most excellent models on the site I hope that my models plans are equally as good to meet the demands of the painstaking model makers.
At 72 my hand is perhaps a little more shaky than it used to be!
My first was the stern trawler Universal Star for Vic Smeed in Model Boats about 35 years ago!
Drawn on the living room floor as I recall.
Since then I must have completed well over 150 or so, a mixed bunch from cargo ships, tugs, yachts, fishing boats, coasters, dredgers etc etc.
I am always gratified to receive any photos of models from  all over the world from modelmakers who have built to these plans, and in response to queries try and help as far as possible.
Keep up the good work, Jim

Jim

You are a legend.
It is nice to be in such fine company as yourself.

From someone who is new to the game.
Best wishes

Jim, you're only a lad - like myself {-) I turn 71 next Friday, but while I have been modelling in one form or another for most of my life, I am only a relative newcomer to marine modelling (4 years). I have studied many of your plans with interest, and as you will know from another post, will be making a start on your Grand Banks cruiser later in the year.
You have a legion of admirers in the field of marine modelling who, like myself, hope you continue publishing plans for many years to come. O0
Best wishes,
Peter.

Hello Jim, we are indeed in exalted company. May I congratulate you on the plethora of plans drawn  by your good hands. I for one look forward to gaining sufficient skill to attempt a plank on frame of a Danish fishing boat, if I remember correctly, which came with the Model Shipwright journal a few years back. It is ironic now that I've moved away from Aberdeen that I would dearly have loved to meet you and have a chat about all the different boats you've drawn to inspire us mere modellers. Thank you for your endeavours over the years and as Peter has said , long may you enjoy drawing and giving us the pleasure of your company.

best regards
