my other new hoddy also modelling
« on: January 25, 2008, 12:00:57 am »

:Di have long been a collector car models and have quite a few of the original danbury mint cars from over 20 years ago that my 1st late wife used to buy for me several times a year as my boat building career looks like it is going to tail of a bit i have been looking at some of the die cast models around to day and they ain't haf bad if you find the right ones and they don't have to be banbury mint money either i remember most of what she bought me were too close to a hundred quid for my liking so these ones at 2499 and 33 quid seem possitive fair priced especially when you consider that corgi cars cost at least as much as the specialist ones and are no where near as good.the range is huge but the choice of scale is a little disappointing. i am hoping to build a very big diaramaof an imaginary auto retail park. in this way i will have to build all the buildings etc what i need from you chaps is to be steered towards slow moving low volt electric motors so as to make the building doors go up and damn and other things move around slowly many thanks.roy

Hey, Jorg, I think Maninthestreet was trying to point out a spelling error there. MTB's 'hoddy' was perhaps meant to be 'hoodie'

A hoodie over here is a gentleman that escorts old ladies across the street. They never use cell phones. They give £££ to the hungry and homeless. They never touch drugs.

Hmm.... a German hoddy....
Could it be someone who carries the bricks for all those Geordie bricklayers over there?

however you can help me lads i was thinking of making myself a bait boat to take fishing but thought that i could use some plasticard to make a mould from which i will make several grp hulls with suitable mods until i get the one i want, i read somewhere that you canactually use a heat gun to melt and glue the stuff together..any body don it and can give hits and tips please. card ordered on ebay and awaiting delivery.mtb roy.

"from over 20 years ago that my 1st late wife used to buy for me several times a year as my boat building career "

Not wanting to be too in-sensitive but First late wife? - implying you've seen a few off?

Roy, out of my experience I can say that a gluegun is no good for plasticard. Especially when you try to make a positive for a mould. We have had acouple of posts for "How-to-do-moulds" in the Hints and Tips-section.

By the way, sorry to hear about your handicap. Know how it feels as I have lost sensitivity in my left hand after a brainstroke. My doctor laughed when I told him that I will use modeling as a therapy, for making up sensitivity.
Unfortunately he don`t want to write out any order to next modelshop as a medical support....  :D

Happy modeling,
Jörg
