stern door
« on: February 09, 2008, 11:01:35 pm »

i am rebuilding my mv Celestine ferry. I am getting the stern door to work. The problem i am having is i cant find any detailed photos of the stern door when its down showing the detail of the car decks and the lifting cables . The photo shows the area of what i need but is to low res to show detail. Any help would most appreciated.

Hi John,

even I don't know this ferry, are there cable or is the ramp driven by oilpressure ?  so there are different possibilities to realize your work.

Cable you can try out kind of tackle on both side of the ramp, same with oilpressure.

hi sven since then i found this photo on the net. now i am not sure if its cable or hydraulics that close the stern loading door. Also this photo confirms there is a dividing wall  in the loading door. I must admit i thought it was one hole and not split in two. But as you can see the photo are poor and hard to work with

Definitely not wire purchase, therefore hydraulic. At a guess port acess leads straight onto ramp to weather deck. Larger stbd door to main deck/lower hold. Just had a closer look at the first photo and you can see the hydraulic ram on the port side

for me it looks like there is only one big ramp, the left hole seems to be closed by part of the ramp, the rest is longer to make sure she can put down the ramp to every portside ramp. We have some ships in our traffic like this one and there is only one big ramp. the small hole is entry to upper deck.
