MISSISSIPI PADDLE BOAT
« on: March 24, 2008, 07:40:10 pm »

My missus has suggested that I build a Mississippi steam paddle boat for her, at some stage, not a static - might be a while before I start this as I have at least another two projects to complete.

Where can I find a kit? (preferably styrene) that I could build relatively quickly - does not need to be steam driven but must have all the other attributes of the Mississippi paddle boats.  :-\

This is getting "catching"

Perhaps soon we'll need a Paddler section in the build dept.

When my Waverley arrives, I might do a build log.

Those boats look do look flashy, Martin.

Cheers...ken

Dumas' Creole Queen sounds more like what your lady would be interested in:

Being Dumas, its a wood kit of dubious quality material, but probably the best you'll find for an authentic Mississippi style steamboat.

Another option would be Saito's Delta Queen kit, but be prepared to pay $$$.

If you want to get involved in a long-term project, I have plans for the late Dwight Hartman's 1/50 Delta Queen & you can find his hull kit available from private sellers.  I've been told that his line may again reappear later this year after his estate has been settled.  I know more than a few guys in the States planning to build the Hartman version.

Happy Paddling!
