Help needed with Glasses
« on: July 18, 2006, 05:21:38 pm »

Now here's a good question how do you repair your glasses when the screw has come out of the arm , i need my glasses to see to put the damed things back to-gether, but before that i need them to find the screw which fell out somewhere in * Youngat65 mansions * Please simple solutions only nothing that needs a degree to understand.

First, snap off the other arm of your glasses - You won't need it...

Apply some superglue to the bridge of your nose - be careful not to get it in your eyes or you won't be able to see at all with the eyelids glued shut....

Stick aforesaid glasses onto nose.... Job done!

The obvious answer, he said smuggly, is to have a spare pair. I've several cheapo "Specsavers" littered about the place. Not much good in the present crisis I know, but worth considering for the future.

Eddy's solution came in while I was typing my reply. I  have to admit it deserves consideration, but I would suggest replacing the superglue with a bulldog clip!

There is an alternative if you can't find the superglue Bob - get her in the kitchen to smack you in the nose, I'm sure she'll do that little favour, the swelling should hold the glasses on pretty well while you continue to look for the superglue...

Forget the glasses Bob. Just open your eye's wider. Don't look at strangers too long though.  :o  Eye's wide open,  look in the mirror, see what I mean.  ::)  Well, I look odd so no reason why you shouldn't.

Just take your glasses to your nearest optician who usually don't charge for that kind of service

what's wrong with 'glasses' - that's 'g-l-a-s-s-e-s' - is it the 'a-s-s-e-s' that are the problem?

I think someone is taking the P155. This is nearly as daft as the guy who had to resort to quoting his home address as "Shorpe" in North Lincs because his ISP wouldn't allow the four-letter bit in the middle. There's no excuse for this; it's lazy programming just to debarr an A55ortment of character strings without regard to their context. The other thing that strikes me as a bit crA55 is that us Brits seldom use the word-not-allowed that sounds like a donkey; we generally use the last four letters of the word "hearse", often with an 'ole on the end.
God save us from prudes, fascists, American-English (and Graham Norton, of course!).

So, if I want to model a gl*ss-bottomed boat, I have to call it a glbottom-bottom boat? Seems like a load of sh1t to me!

When I posted my solution to Bobs g.l.a.s.s.e.s problem yesterday, the word appeared as it should, along with certain words from other members.  Now they have all changed.  I am sure I am not the only one who is sick of having "bottoms" appearing everywhere.

Yes, it looks like the word police moved in some time today. Unfortunately, it appears to be universal and retrospective, so all old posts are now censored too.

If we are going to have this sort of thing, can we at least have English word police, who can tell the difference between a donkey and the part of my body I often talk out off! The stupid pricks can't even recognise 'bottom'!*

Wetwater, what`s wrong with "bottoms"...  ;D
About the word-not-allowed-section, I have had a similar case where one of my collegues (West Midlands) explained me about his ladyboss. Always they are fed-up, they use to say: "Can`t Understand New Technology".
Though I am pretty sure, that there are some clever lads here to change the "Bottoms" to anything they please....  ;D ;D ;D

Anyway, we have to construct a self-controling bilge for Young at 65..., as well as how to pin his glasses on his nose.....

O.K. gentlemen, the order is clear- your ideas please!
