Hi everyone, i've started sorting out the RC gear in my tsekoa. It has 2 motors and 2 ESC's. When setting up, the reciever has only the one channel (with 3 pins) for the speed controller/ motor, on my reciever (A tamco one, that is channel 2). Where does the second one go? Can I make an adapter type thing or just solder some wires together so the speed controllers both go the same channel pins on the reciever? Or is there a different way? Apologies if this makes no sense, I'm new to this game and extra apologies if this has been asked before, I couldn't find anything :embarrassed:

The two ESC's can be connected to 'Y' lead and the single end goes to the R'X.

as a PS you have to remove the centre wire from one of the ESC's as it will clash with the BEC voltages.

:-)) You can get a "Y" servo cable from Component Shop for a couple of pounds,comes in different lengths whatever you want,Ray. :-)) :-))

The alternative is a Mixer this gives you control over both motors to improve control.
There are a couple of Action ones for sale on the classifieds

I don't think I'll need a mixer as I'm planning on putting in a bow thruster so hopefully should be very maneuvrable on the water 8)

If your ESC's have BEC bult in, and you use a 'Y' lead, remove one of the red wires coming from one of the ESC's. This will ensure only one supply voltage is entering the receiver.

What you must remember is with 2 esc's wired through a Y lead, is that both esc's will (should) deliver the same power to each prop. This is great when going ahead or even astern but, when turning, you really want the inside prop in any turn to run a little slower to make the hull turn easier (a little like ackerman steering allows your car's (inside) wheel in a turn to move slower than the outer one).
A mixer from someone like ACTion will allow this to happen. However, I dont know if different manufacturer's equipment may work with others.

or depending on your transmitter, you can have a mix setting, but thats going off on a totally different subject!
A word of caution, something I experienced on the current build of a twin screw fireboat, on testing I found that either or both of the esc's needed to be reprogrammed from time to time, which was very inconvenient, a lot of cursing and moaning occured, until it was pointed out to me on observation, when I was connecting the power supply, the esc's were arming before the receiver, and getting confused, a simple switch was fitted which cured the problem, so, batts connected, rx armed, then flick the switch and the esc's arm, so it all happens in the correct order, didnt have to reprogramme the esc again, and using brushless esc's is a real pain to reprogramme at a lake listening to umpteen beeps to get the right programme! :-))
