Personally I hate the Jeys advert before the Bill on ITV
Stavros
Topic name changed - Martin.
-
I hate any of the Mr Muscle ones as I percieve them to be a major factor in kids getting bullied at school for wearing specs .
The skinny weakling in the adverts is wearing clear glass lenses so Obviously doesnt need them and it portrays spectacle wearers as weaklings >:(
Hmm want to arm wrestle me anytime soon Johnson & Johnson ?
Shane
-
I HATE CILLIT BANG!! why does that idiot have to shout? Also any advert containing Kate Moss or Penelope Cruz
Brian
-
Personally I hate the Jeyes advert before the Bill on ITV
Right on Stavros, couldn't agree more! I'd like to see the guy flushed down his own loo!
-
Im with you brian cillit twang really makes me want to open a vein.....the pillock trying to sell you double glazing comes a close second :-\ :embarrassed: :P
-
What's with the gorilla drumming - Cadbury's chocolate?
-
No, no, no, you are all wrong. Surely the most annoying ad must be those two obese little farts and the vauxhall ad for boring car.
-
Dougal99
I think that is brilliant
Brian
-
the worst advert EVER has to be the Kellogs frosties one
"ITS GONNA TASTE GREAT" (with a geeky runt swinging his arms like a mental monkey)
Jay

I look at that advert and....well I'm not saying that King Herod had the right idea, but I'm not saying he was wrong either.
-
ALL OF THEM!!!!!!!! Especially the finance ads norton, ocean ect................
Mark.
-
I like the Ape in the Cadburies advert, I even have it saved, sad or what!!
More hair than Phil Collins, and my missus calls me "Silverback"
Bob
-
adverts, sometimes they are more interesting than the program, (in the case of b*g b*o*h*r), though normally when the adverts come on, I dive for a BBC channel, having virgin tv usually means that when the adverts are on 1 channel they tend to be on ALL the channels except bbc 1 and bbc2
-
At the moment, in Australia, we are going through a general election campaign. The opposition leader is a bit of a geek as is the PM. But the adds where the opposition leader is trying to convince he is the man, shows that he has practiced his hand gestures to many times and it looks so out of sink with what he is saying, a bit like a B grade actor.

Slightly off track , but great. O0

The Cillit bang advert where they show you it does the same job as elbow grease.

After having seen the full version here, sad I know, but I think I get it! Wonderfully surreal.
I enjoyed this one - this is the viral ad from the "Love it or hate it" Marmite campaign:

Ghost, have you noticed that BBC now show nearly as many "Adverts" as the other channels? Problem is they are trailers for upcoming BBC programs, and get shown so many times, they become really boring.
The worst adverts on here in E Anglia are those for the trains - we have the slowest, most overcrowded and unpunctual service in the country and they keep telling us it's all sweetness and light and days out in London!
Rick
-
Cheers wombat, Just having my toast and coffee. Could have done with a warning. O0
-
The Shake 'n Vac adverthave burned a hole in my memory....
Also the current round of Spec Savers with the man and woman in the swamp tyring to look enigmatic. >:(
...... Love the Cadburies gorilla ad! O0
-
The new corsa ad with the little puppets gggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
gorilla ad is cooool
Rob
-
those new car insurance adverts really oughta be banned, especially elephant.co.uk adverts, oh those fr e-sure as well.
-
I HATE anything with Michael Winner in it!!!!!! >:( >:( Calm down dear!
-
'How much do we want to borrow? Oh yes - 25,000.' As if
-
The shouting buffon on the silly bonk ad is right at the top of the list that makes me want to open a vein (his, not mine) with that pllck on the double glazing ad a close second. >:( In the unlikely event of an advertsing exec from either of these ads is reading this, they should know that those ads are the deciding influence in making me look at any other product in preference.
The finance ads .."You have been spending way beyond your means...Let us lend you a pile of money so that you dont have to learn and we can take your house off you.." just makes me sad that as a nation we have lost the ability to have personal responsibility. :(
On the other hand, the plasticine animation ads that have the Wallace and Grommit look are gems. The sheep mooning the sheepdog and the pony falling over when the wind drops.. {-)
-
Am I alone in detesting anything that tells me I should buy stuff "because you're worth it"? I guess Andee MacDowell gets up my nose because she so obviously loves herself (despite the fact she can't spell); she's crushingly American, and she reminds me very much of Wife #1.
The Cillit Bang adverts are so bad they're brilliant, but I agree that the stunted little goblin who shouts about double glazing ought to be locked away with only Graham Norton videos for company..........and don't get me started on sofa ads ("was it DFS, SCS or SFA?")!
FLJ
-
Trouble is ,we hate these adverts so much that we're talking about them. Good advertising ??
-
How about the Girls in PINK sheilas wheels advert you get bonzer car insurance deals ::) {-)
Jay
-
.........and don't get me started on sofa ads ("was it DFS, SCS or SFA?")!
FLJ
Well, that's two of us. I have a friend in advertising, he did sofa ads. He told me that they always hired the shortest & smallest actors they could find, because it made the furniture look bigger.
My 'smash their face in' ads were a series for some kind of jug water softener, a hatefully smug couple trying and failing to make soft water sexy. My favourite was one for Audi cars a few years ago, it had huge car-sized fish swimming along roads with the traffic, and because they drank like fishes, having to fill up with fuel all the time. I owned the car they were advertising, and it wasn't specially economical at all unless you drove like an old lady, but the ad was a masterpiece. Also, remember those ads for the Golf GTi, woman throwing her fur coat in the bin but hanging onto the car keys? Again, I've owned about six of them, Golf GTis that is not fur coats, so I'm slightly biased.
-
What about the Safestyle ad. You know the one, you buy one, you get free.
I SAID, YOU BUY ONE, YOU ONE FREE. >:( >:( >:(
-
The adds for vitamins are somewhat pointless to me ..like we should all take omega 3 especially kids ? If its so good why are the fish it comes from so stupid ? like three second memory !....what did i just say ?.......doh! :-X :-X :-X
-
I don't dislike the Gorilla and I do like Phil Collins and Gensis - I just don't get the advert. ???
Speaking of supposedly clever adverts does anyone remember what the adverts with Leonard Rossiter and Jackie Collins were for?
Doug
-
Well well, it's come to a pretty pass hasn't it! The telly has turned into such a pile of 5hyte that we are now beginning to watch the ruddy adverts.... and enjoy them! :P
Try typing in 'cillit bang' in you- tube, there's a teriffic re-mix in there and it also comes with an E-Sure re-mix starring Michael Winner. O0. Both are a real hoot!
-
Hi dougal99......i think the advert with leonard rossiter was for cinzano....but i could be wrong..(according to the wife i always am ).
-
Gorilla remix O0
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJ6K7ITb1X4
-
It was cinzano, but it was Joan Collins not Jackie who starred in them and it is a sad state of affairs when you prefer to watch the adverts than the programs that interupt them!!! ;D
Mark
-
Hung by my own petard :(
It was Cinzano but most people think it was Martini. Clever advert but completely missed its market.
It was Joan Collins, Jackie was on the radio yesterday - sub conscious at work - well something has to. ;D
Cheers
Doug

I've got a pond full of fish and Ii'VE GOT A POND FULL OF FISH AND i CAN ASSURE YOU THAT THEY DON'T WEAR WATCHES BUT THEY STILL KNOW WHAT TIME TO SHOW FOR FEEDING

I think the 'Deep Purple' gorilla remix is better than the original (but I AM an old rocker)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVpg7nWXk8Q (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVpg7nWXk8Q)
My hate is the utterly pointless "50% off sales" usually for furniture or kitchens - don't they realise we KNOW that there will be the same (or better - 55% off) sale when this one finishes!
Oh yes - and the small Japanese boy who can't stand the smell of his own poo >:( >:(
Danny
-
Sorry about the previous post. I must have a 'double clicking' index finger!
Anyway, how about the latest Post office ads that want you to put money into a service that won't exist before long!
-
Somebody take Doug back to the home before he gets into trouble , don't feel so bad now ; no wonder he thought I was Gabdalf :o :o
Cheers Doug keep taking the pills

Course they do, EVERY THREE SECONDS.
-
It is,nt just TV adverts that get up noses. Plodding along in the "workshop" listening to Classic FM and being constantly assailed by some blithering idiot trying to sell me at least 6 new "sofas" a year. Are they so bad that they only last for a couple of months?
-
Does World of Leather open all week, and if so why? When they have such a fantastic sale every Thursday. {-) {-)
-
The time to worry lads, is when we get adverts flashing every 15 minutes on the Forum - can you imagine
Martin dressed as Captain Birds Eye, doing a 30 second fish finger advert on the Forum.....
or Colin Bishop doing an advert for Admiral Car insurance. {-) {-) {-)
aye
that's got all our minds working
John E
-
nooooooooo dial 0800 800 800 and ask for admiral!
-
What tickles me is the only one liners buy one get one free in my mind if they can afford to give one away free them the price they charge for on e is twice as much in the first place seems logical to me O0
Stavros

Stavros
Please, as a simple Geordie, could someone translate this for me? I only understood the words "tickles", "free" and "price".
-
You ARE joking Bryan ;)
"Buy on - get one free" - therefore they must be twice the price they should be in the first place!
Away mon, ye canny ken basic Welsh ::) {-) {-)
-
I hate to think how some people would have survived in many of the crewrooms I have frequented over the past 40 years. Lots of tears before bedtime.
I'll just carry on practicing walking on eggshells. 8)
Cheers to ALL
Doug
-
They would probably have survived fine Doug, you just adapt your behaviour to the environment you are in. Social chameleons all! ;)
-
Possibly true Colin, but who adapts to who. Generally the majority wins out but going by the sentiments expressed here and by club members at the pondside the PC brigade are a vocal, but powerful minority.
This is all too heavy for me I'm off to enjoy a birthday dinner and sevral glasses of vino. Oops, I shouldn't have said that last bit I'll get the health police raiding the place (and with 8 bottles in the cellar I could get life). >:( :'(
Cheers
Doug
-
Don't see many ads these days, V+ lets me fast forward through them.
BBCNews 24 self advertising "We have to be all over the world at the licence payers expense...."
One of the e-sure ads had a cute girl holding up signs, might have got my business with a few more of just her. ;)
-
Bring back Nicole from the old Renault Clio advert , Man was she hot !
-
Maybe he did not like you implying that Geordies are simple ?
-
Bring back Nicole from the old Renault Clio advert , Man was she hot !
Recall a wonderful spoof of those ads - Nicole disappears off, Papa disappears off - later seen cruising the red light district. Only dialogue at the end:
"Nicole!"
"Papa!"
-
Mr Wom, your advert of the Clio got me thinking of some of the good adverts and one of my favourites is this one, the John West Salmon one, sit back and enjoy this one :)

Good article in the Sunday Mail about the cadburys Gorilla commercial , how it was done etc.
Regards adverts you love to hate how about the Aguafresh toothpaste where they come into the bathroom all dancing away originally done 1987 and then relaunched recently..
we want blue stripes we want white we want red stripes but thats alright! as you can see Aquafresh is all free Aquafresh is all for your family

"Simple" has many connotations. But as I was referring to myself I am a bit baffled by all this. Another description of "simple"! Too PC and a thin skin methinks.

Bryan, I wouldnt be too upset. Remember it always has bearing where you are born e.g. if you were born just on the outskirts of Durham i.e. River Wear - that makes that person a 'Makem or a Takem' - a true Geordie must be born within spitting distance of the River Tyne O0 and remember a true Geordie is Teflon coated, no insults stick O0 O0 :D
The other thing is, you know when you have really upset a true Welshman - as he will not serve you or buy you a pint of beer in a Welsh pub - as happened to me - when I worked for 6 weeks at Llyn Brenig near Corwen - I had lodgings in the village of Cerrigydrudien - and in the village there was one hotel and one pub. They refused to serve me a pint of beer until I could pronounce Cerrigydrudien....try that .... & there was no help from the locals. It took me about 2-3 days before I got anywhere near it. The other thing is you never start a singing contest in a Welsh pub - because it must be the way the Welsh are bred as the national Welsh Choir comes out in all of them :D I must admit the 6 weeks I was there working, it was one good stay there.
Must go back there, mind it was the first time Ive been locked up for singing in the street, along with 4 other Welshlads, ever heard the Blaydon Races sang in Welsh :D O0 O0

Now you have ME baffled !! You say you were referring to yourself as "simple" but surely not - your other posts often seem to suggest that you are an expert in many things, and now you say that "simple" means too PC and thin skinned. Are you really ?? :P
Come on Bryan - don't get too serious on this forum - a sense of humour is a useful thing. :) :)
Anyway - what have Personal Computers got to do with it ? {-)
Don B.

I'm PC too - Past Caring.
-
Yep. Right on John. I forgot my roots again!

What were all those Flake adverts all about?
-
When I start getting realy serious i will know I'm dead and gone . I was put on this earth to bulid and sail model boats and that is just what i'm going to do that is other than to go and polish the nice new shinny Volvo that's standing outside my front door ,Oh and the advert I love to hate,,,,,,,,,,,,,, how's about that advert that comes on now and again telling me to apply for pension credit what a joke that is and what about that one with the chap who looks like a sack of waste tied up in the middle with an equaly scruffy girlfriend looking for cheap flights to Barcelona
Cheers BObB

Just seen a reminder of an ad I hate. REVELS, if the advertisers know the coffee ones taste so bad, why do the manufacturers still put them in the packet? The coffee ones spoil a good bag of sweets.
-
The Picture Loan Co, all 3 of them >>:-(
-
At the moment on Australian TV there are a whole heap of adverts about Funeral Insurance (a sign of our ageing population I suppose) all from differant Insurance companies. It seems to me that the premiums are indexed with the price of coffee at a coffee shop because they all mention that their cheaper than a cup of coffee. The ads go some thing like ".....Funeral Insurance, yes and the cost is just $2.99 per week" ........ "wow Ive paid more for a cup of coffee"
Do you have the same type of ads in the UK?
-
Have you seen the new Guiness advert ?
All starts off with a domino and works it's way through an Argentinian hillside village - Absolutely brilliant
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/11/08/nadvert108.xml

You beat me to it just seen it brilliant
Stavros

What about lawyers for you ? Would you trust a smarmy , scruffy ,ugly git like that...noooooooooooooo!!!!!! >:(

I think my favourite Guinessess ad was the racing snails. Especially the water jump.

Can not remember which cigar it was for possibly Hamlet , but it was the one where there was a fast model speed boat which then got taken out by a Submarine..That was Brilliant..
-
....and the model plane that gets SAM'd out of the sky!
-
Why on earth does Cadburys dairy milk chocolate want to be related with terminal 5. Have you seen the advert with the trucks running over the luggage on the runway?
-
How about my all time favourite, the Miller`s Beer ad "Wear the fox hat". I`m a wee bit worried about the international implications of the new Citreon one "very German" >>:-( as the older Frenchmen might say)
