DM...is that the same stuff that Top Fuel dragsters run on? The noise sort of sounds familiar...

Ned...what you on about?

Right then...I have finally sorted the exhaust heat shield. Apologies to Ian, but that piece of plastic tube just didn't look right, so it's back to the good old alloy mesh and a very thin strip of masking tape, soaked in cyano. Three whole turns of the mesh round the pipe..a lot of swearing and trying to unattach my fingers from the masking tape..and I'm finally happy with the results.

Just a coat of paint needed, and remake the exhaust support bracket and we're done.

Fear not, Motorflote fans...all is well, I just got sort of sidetracked by the good lady over the Easter period (  ;D  know what I mean? )

Despite her best efforts to find other things for me to do (   ) I did manage to get all the cab glazing panels cut out and framed up ready to drop in, and the control panel is completed.

Normal service will soon resume...

Oh yes, Ned...George was tucked away in the box of Motorflote bits under the workbench. He's far too young to get involved with that sort of thing...

And I'm too old for it...

Should have also mentioned two different skill sets.  Rich does what his health allows and with his sidekick George has entertained us royally this past few weeks.  And of Krishna whos ingenuity and technical knowledge is on a different level from rest of us.  :-))

Frank,
I wasn't commenting on Rich's skills as a modeller, but I thought he would like one.
I am well aware of the limitations that his condition imposes and was not implying he should build one
himself.

Morning gentlemen...fear not, I couldn't see to build anything that small!

I apologise for the lack of updates on the Motorflote, I suddenly realised that the Norwich Sub Weekend is getting closer very rapidly, so I've been working on X9 to get her finished and operational by July.

I'll be back on the 'Flote as soon as X9 is mission ready, panic ye not.

Thanks for the continued support guys, I appreciate it.

Wow this thread has exploded since I last checked, UhHum...that may have been some time ago  {:-{ .
I started building a motorflote back when I was a kid shortly after the plans were in Model Boats magazine.
But unfortunately i never finished it...  :((
I have however started again last year, and am making good progress.
I'm bigger now, so thought I'd make the tug bigger too, so I blown it up slightly (1.5x)
I will start a build blog at some point, but have just restarted the project now the evenings are warmer.
Just working on the hull, specifically the skids at present.
I have the nozzle done, and have just modified the hull (reluctantly), so it may have some aft thrust.
But here is a basic shot of it so far.

It's made of 1/4 & 1/8 ply with spruce batons. But I'll get some more photos up on my own thread shortly.
Nice to see some other interest in the Motorflote as there is not a lot out there about it.
Jon
