Welin-Maclachlan boat davits
« on: February 03, 2011, 11:17:40 am »

Hi Chaps,     I'm hoping to scratch build a 1/36 scale model of the CERVIA tug sometime in the future, and i'm looking for some drawings of the W-M boat davits.            I notice they're also fitted on SUN tugs and many other ships.       I'd prefer to make my own rather than buy plastic ones if they exist.          Anyone got any ideas please ?            Geoff.

Hi Geoff,
I have a drawing of the davits that I made for my CERVIA at 3/8" -  1ft. which I took many years ago from the davits on Waverley, which are the same.
It's very difficult to get info on these davits but you are welcome to the drawing if you P.M. me your address which I have mislaid since I sent you the Hull drawings.
George.

I have a copy of the "Model Shipbuilders Manual of Fittings and Guns" (1939/1946) which has about six pages devoted to these davits, including a photo and various drawings. Email me if you'd like a scan.
