Could have been a plan to take a selfie and then email the picture out ASAP which would have given the police an idea of what sort of Pearson ( in this case Twit)  and potential explosive device they were dealing with !

How can it be a selfie when a member of the cabin crew took the photo?

I doubt that they would be repeatable or sanctioned on this forum, but I  have picked up nicer material on the sole of my shoes many times when walking home from the pub at night, and infinitely nicer than this drain on human breathing space.

And another very emotive subject and please do NOT take this as a political stance, but..............

I was driven past Lancaster Royal infirmary and the A & E departments today whilst on my way to and from Lancaster, and happened to see the picket lines of young Doctors on their strikes.

There was NOT ONE HAPPY OR SMILING FACE  amongst the lot of them. They all looked miserable about what they have been forced to do. They clearly would rather be back on duty doing what they care about and have trained so long to do, and that is to look after and care for patients.

This is NOT  about wages or salaries for them, it is about being treated decently, humanely and fairly, just as they want to treat us, as patients, so please, next time you see a picket line of these down trodden hard working medicals, pip your horns in support of them and what they are standing for.......truth, honesty, fair play and justice.

sorry ned, I understand, and am very seldom controversial, but that struck a chord in my heart seeing them all today with sad faces and just couldn't hold it bac. After all it was placed on the chitchat section.

I'm going to be apolical here, but I will explain.

My last two years in a hospital pharmacy before I took early retirement because of the changes, consisted of....

An imposition of new working practices just like the doctors. Originally the department was given enough funding for staff to cover 8-30 to 5pm monday to friday. Then the change of working practice, we had to cover hours 8-30am until work was finished for the day be that 6pm, 7pm or even later, monday to friday, but the kicker was, we also had to provide sat and sun cover 10am to 5pm with the same staffing level. So to cover this it meant reducing the amount of staff on duty during the week to be able to offer the 7 day service.

Commonly this is called robbing Peter to pay Paul. The weekday's got longer because you were short staffed to cover weekends. But at no point were the extra hours you worked paid! no you had to book the extra time and be repaid with time off - guess what? yep so much time off was accrued that it couldn't be given as staffing levels fell even more - so they just wiped the slate clean and began over, hmmmmm.

No way to run a business and it is this practice the docs are striking about.

Simples really - just have a campaign to not have these unpopular politicians elected from their seats, just like councillors who get into office and become problems - you don't have to vote for them if you object to there operating practices, just campaign to get rid of them, just like the idiot who for a laugh suggested boaty etc and those that voted for it - and the even bigger idiot who suggested to have a competition for the name - like at a zoo naming competition the great british public will show you up for the idiot you are.

Apologies for any offence created - just having a rant - again.
