My new Planet T5 Radio
« on: January 25, 2012, 04:12:31 pm »

I've just received my brand new Planet T5 radio control complete with receiver.  Does anyone know what type of plugs fit onto the receiver.  I think they are Futaba but I don't want to buy the wrong type, also are there any types of ESCs or servos I should avoid with this rig?

Any of the 3pin sockets will fit, just make sure yo put them on the right way round as shewn in the instructions.

Any servos or ESC should be fine.

Yep as above, If your plug has a tab on it you may have to remove it with a sharp knife (be carefull of your fingers )
and make sure you dont cut into the plug wire .

Hi Murphy this might help

Instruction book page 5    Rx Channel Assignment:
                                     1 - Throttle
                                     2 - Rudder
Your rudder might work on one of the other channels

Plug your esc in with the exposed gold pins facing to the right and the  brown / black cable adjacent to rear of Rx

I've just got my Mtroniks Viper Marine 15 and I'm confused too.  The Planet R6M receiver has 7 sets of pins reading "B" and "1 -6" from left to right as you look at the Rx from the pin end. If I'm using the BEC do I connect the ESC to the "B" position? I know that using a separate Rx battery I'd have to disconnect the red wire from the ESC
The ESC has 3 wires; orange/red/brown  I assume red is positive, orange is signal and brown is negative, so the orange has to go at to top or upper face of the Rx.
The servo needs to fit on the appropriate set of pins but which would correspond to the right stick on the control box?  I assume that if I tried each in turn until I got a response from the servo I could find the right one by process of elimination or would this hurt the RX or Servo?

A lot of questions I'm afraid, but at 20.00 quid a pop I don't need the ESC to go pop.

Same as above

Battery to B if using separate batteries and disconnect red wire.

Connect Esc to 1 if using BEC

Servo to 2

Brown or black cables adjacent to rear face of receiver with exposed gold pins facing the right.

Hi TailUK,The ESC connects to No 1 channel not ( B ) when using the BEC facility. ( do NOT connect your battery to B )
The chanel to stick positions are 1 & 4 left stick, 2 & 3 right stick.

There is a do not put in bin sign on the left side of the Rx case with a thick black line under it,
The negative lead always aligns with the black line. or bottom pin.

So with a couple of small modifications here's the set up on the bench.  I substituted the bullet connecters from the Viper with a Tamiya female socket and put a male connector on the motor lead.  I used a female on the motor leads to prevent accidental connection to the battery lead which has a male connector.  A small piece of tape is put on the motor shaft to show it's running and the whole thing plugged in.

Fingers crossed I switched it all on.

To be honest I didn't think it would be difficult but I wanted to make sure I got it right. :-))
