Thanks Dave.

The further you are away from it, the better it looks.  I've found that spray paint on wood is highly dependant on a very smooth surface.   %)  The ply wood was quite 'grainy' so I went the  'many coats'  way.  I do like the  Stagecoach colour scheme, so many thanks to Google for the information.

The replies are coming in thick and fast.  haven't you guys got any more Xmas presents to open.    {-)       {-)

@ Ned.  yes the seats were a challenge. First I used red oxide as a filler base and then sprayed them blue.   The dots were added by using a drop of spray paint into the lid and applying with a brush tip  (quite small) and praying it didn't run.  The imitation hand rails above the seats were hand painted in Volkswagen orange several times for depth of colour.

I do like the job you've made of the Globeliner Rich.  It certainly looks the  'biz'.  I've not done this model but it does appeal to me now.

Thanks Ken...I've always liked the GlobeLiner, there's just something about it that appeals to me.

Not sure what to do with the Scania yet, thinking of extending the chassis rails and building it into a dog n' pup...similar to that in the pic below.

I'd love to see someone tackle the first picture on this site - black semi in Brazil. I wonder what the full rig looks like?

Wagon and Pup I've to heard that saying in years  {-)   Most hay merchants run these now if not all but the hay usually goes above the cab and they run low cabs because of this.  I would say just looking at the picture that the owner of that truck is pushing the legals length limits to the max and possibly over.  Operators would not really do this nowadays.

You have a Scania R470 4x2 which has only one purpose - Euro work which would run under 4M high.  A lovely truck I've had a few  :-))

Dave

I would love to see lots of period lorries done as there are some beauties out there in preservation. The Latil (third photo down is also a lovely.

You say your Bus model cost you about £500, what put cost that high? Did you have to buy more than one lorry to furnish parts, or was it the vast quantities of paint you had to buy???

Lovely model ken:OD

It was the third incarnation.  Bus bit's every where.   %)  I have been trying to think how many tins of paint I've used.  Three visits to Halfords with a promise to show them the finished result.  I have sold one 'cut out' set of blanks to another constructor already but don't think I'll make a career out of it as it's very labour intensive.

Here's a piccie of the kit.  (not doing this again !)

I appreciate that Carl of Linkspan is a busy man with the development of his range and making stuff for exisiting products, but perhaps he or someone with similar facilities could do a few sets for you to sell? This would save you ages cutting out bits of ply.

The basic bus body must have been used by numerous companies and thus there are many liveries to choose from.

Thanks for the pointers guys.  I'm not planning on mass producing any more. It was just a one off due to a request.

Cheers

Not a Tamiya, but it's got wheels...  %)

The driver is George's twin brother...he gets seasick, so he volunteered for shore duty  %)

Is it scaled  ?

I'm always on search for 1:14 figures.  I have measured the distance on my hand for easy reference when perusing the toy shops.   %)

Unfortunately the characters are always dressed for war or space battles and are not normal looking people.

George and his land lubber cousin are roughly 1/12th scale, Ken...the jeep is 1/10th scale, so in my mind, George's cousin is a big lad.

There's often Tamiya driver figures on eBay, either for trucks or for race cars, but I expect you know that.  {-)

Thanks for that Rich.

Yes, the subject of tiny people is always on my mind.  I have to consider acquiring loads of em as bus passengers so cannot afford the precision and beauty of perfect miniatures.   %)

If I, perhaps, manage to find the perfect model then I would re mould loads of them and dress them differently  (for variation) and crowd them all together.  Tamiya have now produced a 'driver' which does look nice, so might get one of these for a trial.

I looked at model railway figures, but in the larger scales the price becomes prohibitive...even more so for your bus. A decent bus load of passengers would require a second mortgage... :embarrassed:

The Bus is now finished.    :}

I have made a YouTube film of the whole build if you're interested.  She drives very well and now has complete radio control.

Ken, what motors do use in your trucks? My GlobeLiner has the stock Tamiya 540 motor, and to be honest it's far too quick. Even with the big lowloader and the boat hull behind it, it's off like a rat on acid.
I've just ordered a Carson Poison motor for it, hope that'll slow it down somewhat.
