Help needed with name of a tool. ...
« on: August 15, 2012, 02:53:12 pm »

Can someone help me with the correct name of the tool, made up of a row of metal or plastic pins, that when pressed against an object, copies the shape... e.g. hull contour ...  {:-{ even better if you can tell me where to get one as without the name I'm having trouble searching for it.  %%

I need it to make a stand with the correct outline of the hull for the yacht that I'm restoring.

Any help gratefully received.   :-)

Not sure what this is called but you can buy a flexible strip. Its plastic covered and has a lead like inner. Just flex to your contour. Artist shop? John.

Whichever one you decide on - don't forget to allow for the thickness of your lining material on the cradles.

(I speak from experience here - got a perfect fit for the hull then had to sand down more to accommodate the rubber lining) >>:-(

Regards,

Ray.
