Can someone help me with the correct name of the tool, made up of a row of metal or plastic pins, that when pressed against an object, copies the shape... e.g. hull contour ...  even better if you can tell me where to get one as without the name I'm having trouble searching for it. 

I need it to make a stand with the correct outline of the hull for the yacht that I'm restoring.

Any help gratefully received.

Not sure what this is called but you can buy a flexible strip. Its plastic covered and has a lead like inner. Just flex to your contour. Artist shop? John.

That's a "flexible curve".

Whichever one you decide on - don't forget to allow for the thickness of your lining material on the cradles.

(I speak from experience here - got a perfect fit for the hull then had to sand down more to accommodate the rubber lining)
