Off we go after the holidays. First I started with the roof of the wheelhouse.

Then I started also with the anchors. Couldn't find the right ones so I had to scratchbuild them. They will be black and so no need to have too much details on them because you wont see them really.

1h later they where finished ...

Welcome back Danielle and thank you for the card:O) I like the anchors. You have saved yourself a good sum of money making your own.

Roof of the wheelhouse made of 2x 1.5mm ply ... I wished I had some 2.5mm on hand but my stocks are ampty after one year building time.
So off I went and glued the two pieces together.

The two anchors got some color ... Tamiya XF-18 matte black

Anotherday another job done ....  ok2

Working again on the roof. The "cover" of the roof has to be done. Its made of 2x 0.6mm ply.

Taking the exact angle ...

Angle of the cover ...

I made the 27° angle on my Proxxon sander .... checking it out.

Covers made of 0.6mm ply. I just love this flexible ply!!! I always use a cutter or scissors to cut it.

Checking again ....

.... and glued in place!

Lampboard freshly glued in ...

After sanding ...

I also added some profiles on the top of the covers ....

And like usual the ship in total from the top.

The first model boat show in Switzerland is end of April .... I have to get her ready 'til then!!!!!  {:-{

More work done today ....
Some details on the upper deck. Glued in place all these tiny wooden reinforcements ....

Then the exhaust stack got its shape .... dusty work I can tell you!

The ventilation covers where milled on my lathe .... out of an old broomstick.

And here are the parts ....

As you can see its not that easy with the ventilation covers and ducts....

Ready to be glued in place ...

Done for today ....

It's great whittling parts on the lathe or in the power drill. Interesting progress, and great to see you making the middle sized detail parts. Before you know it, you will fit the last lamp or door handle and there will be another Boat completed.

Time to finish the smoke stack! I added a ladder and the covers for the exhaust pipes. The main engine exhaust pipe has its cover open. The auxiliary engine exhaust pipe will remain closed. Then I added some layers of acrylic paint. More layers will be needed to have e nice white exhaust stack.

I also started the radar mast. I made it with different pieces of scrap plywood. Normally I do the mast with ABS plastic but I still prefer wood. The front will be sanded round tomorrow. Another 1-2 weeks will be needed to get the mast done. There are 5 lights and 2 working radars to be added.

Overall picture as usual .... I just love the very nicely designed lines of the ship! The newer fishtrawlers from the UK or France have never such classic lines.  ok2

Is this because of the sea states expected of a particular region? I know the Med can get super choppy at times but the North sea and Atlantic can get enormous.

Lovely work as usual Danielle.

The med can have big waves ... at the adriatic the waves are little bit smaller. And I noticed that if there is a storm with waves and wind nobody gets out of the harbour. And who is out is coming in fast.

Holes for the wires.

Glueing the cover on the platforms.

I had to make 2 small wings for the mast.

The designer of that mast certainly had a flair for interesting shapes. It is more like a cabin cruiser's than a working vessel.

Lovely work with the thin wood.

Danielle,

Do you have any wood working experience???

Your methods seem to indicate some experience working with timber.

Very informative build.  O0 O0 O0
