Sorry about the outage Ladies and gentlemen, Forum Db got corrupted.... even while I was posting yesterday!
Seems we lost a days worth of post, mainly by the incompetence of an idiot IT guy that didn't read my support request properly!

.... we IT guys do tend to do that.

Now where were we?

Don't worry about it Martin, my Dad's website's database is severely corrupted, we're just coasting along at the moment until the new one comes online, don't want it to go bang!

It is amazing with IT that it is always the users problem until it affects the IT department, then it gets fixed in hours

Personnally I would get rid of July as well.., take the pictures back to say 180 - 200kb as that is more than enough, clear out a few users who have not been active for say a year and not posted.

It all helps for a tidy ship.

May I respectfully suggest that all of us who enjoy reading this forum on a regular basis, especially those of us who post on a frequent basis, donate to this awesome service if you haven't done so recently.

Although this is a 'Free' service it does involve the Admin Team in significant costs (and time) to provide such a gold mine of useful info. ie: Martin having just had to upgrade server memory to limit server outages, lost posts, etc.

I am sure that if all of us put in the equivalent of a couple of pints, maybe twice a year, we will each save much more than that from the resource information disseminated here.

Forum Logs look good,
Server stats are all in green,
No failed 'clamd' Service alerts, first time for many months!

New server seemed quite happy but recent stats showed that it was constantly hitting the memory capacity buffers and wasn't coping as well as it should. We've double the memory and it seems to be working much more efficiently, especially under peak loads.

OK, OK, hands up, definitely my fault this time.... sort of!

I was trying to do the back-office stuff, Checks, repairs, optimise etc.
I should have shut the forum for a while but.....

.... I've had to roll back to last backup, lost today's (Feb 13) posts.
