Hi all, looking for advise as to what type of servo would be best used to operate the mast on a Slipway Tamar. will proberley be linked direct. what size , type of gears, could you suggest, any help will be appreciated. Gerard

Have you looked at a linnear type servo,maby with a bell crank arrangement , just my threepenny worth .

This - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-EMS-Linear-Servo-Conversion-Kit-S148-EMO0102-NIB-/291341853059 - might give the right travel using a standard servo, but might still be a bit sudden unless the servo was fed via something like a servo morph to slow its reaction down.  A standard servo with a servo speed modifier might well do the job.
If more torque is needed, and space available, a 2 turn winch as sold by component-shop (up to about 7" of travel on the line).
Essentially, its the same job as the flyboys use for retracting gear.
