The wiper type board with all the wires looks like a Tamiya speed controller, but it is missing the ceramic heatsink.
The rest aint got a clue.

Whoever wrote Action P79 on the top of the little drawing in the picture was correct, for 'tis one of those. I would agree with the verdicts on the other two items i.e. bin food.

The first one is a servo motor and board with a physically broken position sensing pot.  This could be replaced with a fresh one like this - http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/10k-andohm-carbon-vertical-sub-miniature-fully-enclosed-preset-potentiometer-uh16s - at minimal cost even from Maplin and then be used as a combined mini motor and speed control.  Possibly a previous owner intended that and managed to pull the top off the pot thus losing the wiper assembly (important bit).

It's an electronic speed  controller Len.
Will control the speed of a motor when
connected between the receiver and the motor.

Thanks for that, so what does it do please.

It doesn't do Google checks. Neither, it appears do you, so here's one I did earlier. http://www.componentshop.co.uk/p79-condor-10-2-autoset-computer-speed-controller.html

Item 1 - Servo modified for continuous rotation (or broken)
Item 2 - Would need to investigate further, but I suspect it is a servo controlled reversing switch
Item 3 - P79 Electronic Speed Control

Agreed, Item 2 is indeed a Tamiya 3 Step Forwards and Reverse Speed controller, operated by a servo it has 3 forward and 2 revers speeds
There should be a ceramic resistor that connects to the 3 purply blue wires:-

Thick red & Black go to the battery
Smaller red/Black with red connector go to power the Receiver
Green & yellow go to the motor
