One of the last things to build on this ship are the portals on the back of the ship. This portal is placed a few years after the ship was build. First there was a crane and a rubberboat

The portal is used for the two puleys that guides the pulswires to the nets

Here the placing of the portal

And how it looks now

No drawings so I had to use photo's for measuring the right dimensions and proportions

I admire your patience. Building everything 3 times must be driving you crazy. I once built 2 identical tugs and everything that I built the second time was better than the first. I kept the second built. I would not have the patience for 3 times.

Some progress on the sumwings, It's not an easy shape to make but I am satisfied with the wings I have now. After this I start adding the details (which are many) And then I want to figure out to find a way to make the fishingnets. (I eat lots and lots of garlic these weeks. Maybe next time I tell You why)

Wow, that mast just gets better and better! Was I the only one watching to see where your roller was going to fall when you were parting off? I often find that despite being careful at this pointthat the bit I parted disapearsinto the swarf!

Excellent work Kees.

The sumwings are finished but not yet complete. That comes when I give them their final positions.

The more of your work you show, the more amazing it becomes - those oblique angled cut outs with the rigging eyes in them look like they will be quite strong which, of course, they would need to be. O0

Thank You all for the reading and comments

I went a litlle further with the structure of the back of the ship. It was more work than I expected because i want to make the structure removable because of the electric wiring for the numerous leds in the model.

No more talking... here are the provisional results (times three but I only show one)

IMG_20160601_212427_zpsnrecv03k.jpg

Now on with all the details. :-))

Excellent progress Kees. Those Sumwings look unusual to the untrained eye.

Today a dryfit for the parts. I finished the railings and some other details. Now I start with the deck and the front of the ship. Nothing is fit yet and some parts need some finishing.

Hi Kees, your model is looking good - what is the blue strip above the wheelhouse, looks like some kind of plastic u-channelling ?

They're not models they're works of art!

I just watched the video, excellent, where did you get the tool that cuts the circles in the plastic card?

Superb, superb, superb....... One for each model..... U2

Sorry for the late answer to your question. I bought it on Ailexpress and the brand is Olfa. If you google on circle cutter You can find other brands.

I made some progress on the Pelikaan.

I made some progresse with the decks and the foremasts by combining them together, Structual everything is okay now so I can start doing the thing I like the most... adding details. Thats for the next update but first some pictures of what I did today.

Wooden guards and some metalworking beneath the spraydeck. Next stap will be adding all the details and then the opening where the fish goes in the ship. Lots of work to do but very rewarding.

And here some parts of the ship safely in my new showcase. I made this case to protect the parts when I work on other parts.

Absolutely stunning work exactly what I'd like to build but on a bigger scale  :-))  but think I'd need a few more years experience to get anything like near to half as good as this build O0

Working on the Pelikaan.

I started on the bullwarks and realized they are the last structural things I have to build. All the other parts have been build and now is the time to put together everything.

32355285002_8669fdc49c_c.jpgUntitled by Model Fishingships, on Flickr

Yesterday I glued the spraydeck on the hull (and with this the maindeck and the structure under the spraydeck which were attached to the spraydeck)

31663886674_31e324c30c_c.jpgUntitled by Model Fishingships, on Flickr

After that I finished the bullwarks and the next thing is to finish (sanding etc) the hull so I can paint them.

31697948004_2e60ff90e4_c.jpgUntitled by Model Fishingships, on Flickr

I also made the metal stands. They are attached to the hull and will be fastened to a wooden plank. It's just the structural part the finishing will follow. The pipes are hollow so I can lead electric wire through them later.
